My career dreams and aspirations do not end with vet school! I hope to be matched into an internship and residency program. I hope to become board certified in either soft tissue surgery or emergency and critical care. My interest between the two often changes depending on what day it is and I find it hard to choose just one! While pursuing my degrees has been a full time job for me, that has not stopped me from working as much as I can. Below are some jobs I have held while being a student.

Student Veterinary Intern
Southern Veterinary Partners
Summer 2016

I was honored to be chosen to rotate through three Birmingham animal hospitals to see the ins and out of three very different practices. This internship focused on veterinary business, communication, and differential diagnosis synthesis all while allowing me to maintain and hone my technical skills.

Summer Veterinary Student Intern
Carriage Hills Animal Hospital and Resort

2015- present

I was privileged to work under and be mentored by a team of veterinary professionals. Dr. Bill VanHooser, Dr. Scott Griffin, Dr. Ann Salter, Dr. Christine Carswell, Dr. Hannah Lamb, and Dr. Lauren Rowe mentored and coached me constantly last summer while working at Carriage Hills and continue to do so. I scrubbed in on countless surgeries and gained many skills that will help me throughout my career.  I continue to work here on breaks from school and occasional weekend shifts.

Equine ICU Student Worker
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine

January 2015 - July 2015

I had the opportunity to work weekends in the Equine ICU since January. I started this position to get more hands on experience with equine medicine and have ultimately realized that it is not my passion. I worked all through the summer but ultimately decided not to continue working when school started back!

Veterinary Assistant
Gardner Animal Hospital
2006 - 2014

I started volunteering at Gardner Animal Hospital when I was in 9th grade. I would work breaks and after school when I could. They were so impressed with me that they eventually hired me and I worked there full time for 9 months before starting vet school.
